The painting is inspired by Otto Dix’s Portrait of Mrs. Martha Dix (1923), which Ward studied whilst it was exhibited in Tate Liverpool as part of Portraying a Nation: Germany 1919–1933.
Ward’s work was featured in The Big Draw 2017 at The World of Glass, as part of the exhibition Drawing the Collection.
